Advice on Selling my 06 HCH
Hi everyone,
I've greatly enjoyed learning from everyone at this site. For the short term, I'm looking to trade in/sell my 06 HCH because my financial state is going to be changing and I need to remove the car payment.
It is an 06 HCH with 42k on it. Everything is in great working condition. I've been offered $13,000 to simply turn in the keys at a dealership.
Any suggestions from people as to the best way to sell the car? I've put it on craigslist and got a couple responses, but nothing panned out.
I'm open to any honest help.
Thanks so much

I just looked up the value on Kelly Blue Book and it seems the dealers offer isnt horrible, but you may be able to do better. I dont know what options you have so the figure is way off most likely, but I am sure you can negotiate with them on the price as there seems to be some wiggle room.
I sold my 02 Prius through Auto Trader online. I would say price it right and it will move fast.

I'm looking at a car that still gets 35mpg. With a $380 a month car payment I'm still going to be saving some cash flow.
I'd agree that long-term it's not the ideal, and I'm hoping to get back to a hybrid in the future. I'm just looking at a pretty significant short-term cash flow crunch. It's not worth racking up credit card bills for things you can't afford at the moment.

Sorry, I enjoyed a bit of hyperbolic humor with the "wait to sell until gas is $4" remark.
If you're only driving 500 miles per month, sell it right away. In order for a hybrid to have any value, you have to drive at least 1,500 miles/mo. So the sooner you sell, the better off you'll be.
Fortunately, hybrids retain enough of their value that you should be able to sell for more than the $13,000 the dealer offered. Autotrader.com is a good place, and be sure to post lots of good photos.
