Ford Edge/MKX Hybrid production - Canada
As part of Ford's quest to become a leader in alternative fuel vehicles, the company is making its Oakville, Ont. plant the first to build hybrid vehicles in Canada.
Details of the project were announced Wednesday at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
The Oakville factory, west of Toronto, will begin assembling hybrid versions of the Ford Edge and MKX crossover utility vehicles.
Production of those new models should start in time for the 2007 model year, with hybrid versions to come later.
