CNW Marketing and NOVA on PBS

CNW Marketing and NOVA on PBS
PBS's Nova program is currently accepting suggestions for input on a show they're putting together on cars of the future (credit to dan ramirez at Priuschat for bringing this to my attention). Anyhow, I wrote earlier today to ask them to address the claims in the CNW Marketing Study. Maybe that's a stupid idea, but they have plenty of real scientists on their panel and it sure would be nice to get an good cite critiquing that study.
Anyhow, if anyone wants to give them input, the link is:

I'm thinking Nova really should look forward.

Yeah, I know what you mean. This was one of those impulse posts just because I ran into the stupid CNW story again too many times yesterday.
But they are looking for input, on any topic, from hybrid owners. So all you hybrid modders, drop em a line. Or if anyone has any topics they'd like to see covered.

I believe we should ignore CNW, IMHO it's just paid propaganda.
This was the eMail I received regarding the preparation of the show:

Get involved in the making of a NOVA program to air in the fall of
2007 on PBS.
For the next two weeks, NOVA will not be broadcast in most areas
because of pledge programming. However, we wanted to take this
opportunity to let you know about an exciting new project.
For the first time, NOVA has launched a Web site specifically to
engage you, our audience, in the production of a documentary. The
show will address a topic of concern to all of us: can we transition
to a new breed of vehicles that relies less on oil and produces fewer
greenhouse gases? NPR personalities Tom and Ray Magliozzi (a.k.a. the
"Car Talk" Guys) will pepper the program with their unique brand of
humor as they test-drive alternative vehicles, meet leading energy
policy gurus, and more. The documentary will be shot and edited over
the winter and spring of 2006-2007 and is tentatively slated to air
in the fall of 2007.
As our production team embarks on shooting over the next few months,
we'd like to hear from you. What questions would you ask of the
experts we'll interview? What technologies would you like to see
profiled? On the Web site www.pbs.org/nova/car, you can explore
current plans for the program, submit your own ideas, and get updates
as the production unfolds.

Re: CNW Marketing and NOVA on PBS
I contacted them regarding the upcoming TV special on future cars.
My suggestion was to not forget about motorbikes. Mine gets 50 mpg, has a catalytic converter and is fairly green.
There is the potential for 100 mpg diesel motorbikes. Bikes can play a role in conserving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions, and already do this to a large degree in many parts of the world where bikes outnumber cars by a wide margin, like SE Asia and India.

Hi,
Ordinarily I'd agree but I got this note this week:
Much as it disgusts me, someone has to see what his latest nonsense is.
FOLLOW-UP: One lame announcement and two 'summary' spreadsheets without back-up data. Same old . . .

Deaths per 100 Million miles traveled in the US in 2004.
Motorcycles = 40.9
Automobiles = 1.18
Light Trucks = 1.16
About 35 times more likely to be killed on motorcycle. Only 8 times more likely to be injured.
