4 SUV Drivers Steal $8,100 of Gas
This CNN Video, shows a station attendant explaining how four SUV drivers got $8,100 of gas for free. One person pulled the plate off the pump and took it off line. No longer on the network but still able to pump gas, several have just pumped and not paid.
The police just told the attendant, to call the insurance, who also did nothing.
Don't tell me there is nothing that can be done.
Don't tell me gas stations are sharing in the windfall profits either.

Back in the 1970's a Dallas station first tried automated gas pumps. It was simple - put in a one-dollar bill, $1 of gas pumped. Fraud was simple - photocopy a $1 bill.

In addition to the gas thiefs, I also have a beef on the local police that passed on this one - would they let this go it it were ATM theft?

Re: 4 SUV Drivers Steal $8,100 of Gas
Okay, here's what I don't get.
The video shows him saying he lost $8144.60
He has written down 2804 gallons lost.
That means he's paying $2.90/gallon.
But that's not what's bugging me.
2804 gallons/4 SUVs = 701 gallons per SUV.
Now, I know they've got big tanks, but come on. Assuming they've got 32 gallon tanks (Suburban=31, H2=32, Escalade=26, Expedition=28), where did the other 669 gallons go? Did each of them fill up 134 five-gallon gas cans?
Did the police have him test the level of his tank? Sounds to me like either the pump was reporting false measurements or he's got a scam going.
To lose 2804 gallons, he'd have to have 88 forty-gallon SUV's fill up, not 4. Assuming it takes 5 minutes to fill your tank, there would have to be a non-stop parade of SUV's pulling up to that one tank, standing there for 5 minutes and driving off for 7.3 hours. And nobody noticed anything?
I'm not surprised the police wouldn't touch it.
