Default Newbie from Az

I've been lurking for a while but finally joined. I don't have a hybrid yet, but am interested in an Escape. I live in Phoenix so I'm curious about high temperature effects on hybrids.

Hello,

I am in Phoenix also and while I have not had an Escape, I am on my 2nd HCH. The first was an '04 with 43k miles and 48.8 mpg (lifetime) and my 2nd is an '06 with 2k miles getting about 50 (check my sig for accuracy).

Never having lived elsewhere, I am not sure how the heat effects it but I have been nothing but happy with both of mine.

Good luck.

Jessica

JG,

I had 02" Prius and it only got 38 to 39 mpg during the hot summer (over 100F).

Thanks for the insights. I figure getting a hybrid is 50% economy/ecology, 50% coolness

Yeah, that's about the only problem. I've seen almost a 15% drop in mileage (from about 54 MPG to about 46 MPG) with the A/C. Of course, it's over 110 degrees so far.

Ok, I must be the odd man out but I do not notice a bid diffference when using a/c if I am mindful of it just as I get better milage when I am mindful of how I am driving.
