A new 05 HCH owner here !
Hello All...
Let me begin to say what a great website and community we have here. After 2 weeks owning my 05 HCH, I was so proud with my 48.3MPG, then after reading other people can get beyond 60MPG with their HCHs !! Whoa !! I have been reading about the driving technique, not sure if I can do that in Cali - too many impatient Kalifornian on the roads I should say
Anyway, my decision for 05 HCH, came after test driving an 05 Prius earlier this year and it stalled on the 101 - 3 times. It was very scary and we almost got rear ended the first time. The second time it happened, poor salesman had to push the car to the side of the road. They ended up calling another salesman to pick us up since we were totally stranded the third time.
After that incident I began to postpone my idea of buying a hybrid and did a lot of research about hybrid cars. Back in July 05, an old man in a brand new Prius was stranded on the 280 near Los Altos, I was so curious so I stopped and sure I heard his complaint about the car just died and it wouldn't start. No offense to happy Prius campers out there, but I totally lost my faith in Prius after experiencing and seeing real examples of the stalling issue, I wasn't alone.
I never really like the look of Prius anyway. But, I always admire how sexy HCH from behind with the lip spoiler (my wife totally agrees on this) so I finally decided for the HCH, got the color I wanted and just waited for 3 days instead of 3 months and I got it right before my birthday !
Anyway that's my story...

Thanks for sharing your story. There are many Prius owners that would envy a 3 day wait for a hybrid. congrats on your purchase and good luck on your raising you mpg's even more!
