Ike in Boston, Blue 2005 CVT Honda Civic Hybrid
Hello all,
I just got a Blue 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid. I actually took delivery on the car a month ago, but after three days, a component of the IMA system failed, leaving the car gas-only. I left it at the dealership, and it took them about exactly one month to get the backordered part to fix it. Once they got it in (Friday), it only took them a few hours (or maybe even minutes) to put it in. In the intervening month, the Honda dealership was gracious enough to pay for a rental car through Enterprise, though the rental car was a Kia Rio. The experience was still very frustrating, and I was well aware of my rights under the Massachusetts Lemon law, but did not want to exercise them because they probably would not have been able to give me a replacement vehicle, and if I got a refund I would have had to just go and buy some other car, which was a hassle I did not want. The contrast in driving experience between the Rio and my Civic felt very intense when I got back into my Civic this morning.
Despite having such a bad problem so early on, I'm still very confident in Honda and their hybrid Civics - my aunt has a 2003 HCH, and my father has a 2004 HCH, and neither of them have had any problems whatsoever. And my Civic drove beautifully when I picked it up today; hopefully it will continue to do so.
For a little bit of background about myself, I just finished school (Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering), and got a nice job as an engineer. The job is about 32 miles from where I live, so I needed to get a car for the commute, and even though I generally don't like cars much, I'd been interested in the Hybrid Civic in an abstract sense before I had any idea I'd need to buy a car.
I don't expect I'll be very active on this site, but I wanted to at least make an introduction.
Thanks all for the site, the forums, and the mileage database!
