Default howdy all

I am cleatus_wt and I want to learn all I can about hybrids as that will be my next vehicle. I hope they make a small truck hybrid sometime soon, as that is what I would drive, but perhaps the Ford SUV will do...

Welcome! Feel free to ask away about the Escape Hybrid, something tells me that if you're waiting for a pick-up Hybrid, you're in for a long wait.

Actually a pickup platform hybridized may work out better than a lot of folks realize. It is about packaging the hybrid technologies up in a unit which can be placed in the normal transmission area. I honestly don't think that will be much of an issue. It is a matter of getting companies up to speed in creating robust enough hybrid packages which can handle the rough life some pick-ups live when they are in farm/commercial service.

Welcome!

Not to derail things, but the reason I think it may be a long wait is not because of a development issue but a purchasing one. I think there's going to be a long uphill battle to get pick up owners to consider buying a hybrid pick up truck, and the fear that they won't be able to sell one will keep car manufacturers from developing one. It's a cart before the horse issue. If you can't convince enough people to buy it, why build it?
