Default "Cryo'd" 120 MPG Insight

Does anyone know if the owner of the Honda Insight in this article is on greenhybrid.com?

http://www.kfor.com/Global/story.asp?s=3390503

"A hybrid Honda typically gets really great gas mileage anyway, around 50 miles to the gallon, but David Hutchison's cryogenically tempered engine has been known to get close to 120 miles a gallon."

I'm sorry but that whole cryo thing had nothing to do with gas mileage. It may make the parts stronger or harder or last longer but freezing an engine is not gonna do anything that would improve mileage. What a load.

I can't put much stock into this idea. I'd have to see a lot more data and long term testing.

Well, it does say that it has been known to achieve, not average. I'm sure all ya'll insight owners have seen the FCD spike to 120 during fuel cut, ect.

Exactly, I could say I have "achieved" 150 mpg. (Bby resetting the trip meter and coasting down a long hill.)

Hi Stevo12286:

___120 mpg? You mean 150 mpg Better yet, in the metric display mode, the Insight will show an infinite FE at 0 L/100 Km!

___Anyone anywhere could take a game gauged equipped automobile to 120 + mpg if the game gauge had that high a resolution simply by letting off the gas at high speed. The proof as Eric and DF in particular have asked is in the tank after tank. I wonder if this guy could be contacted to add his own tank over tanks here?

___Good Luck

I may consider contacting him.
The story had a link to his website. And on his website there is a "contact us" page.
