WHY

Re: WHY
Continuing the pure speculation: a friend was told by someone who "specializes" in Honda's that there was a last-minute problem identified with the new A/C and that the release was delayed to either 1) fix it or 2) have it arrive after summer temperatures have dropped so they can fix it over the winter and issue a standard recall before next summer. I have serious doubts about this explanation, but why not keep the rumors flowing.
Anyways, I am anxiously awaiting my dealer to call and tell me my order has arrived. It was supposed to be in before I moved but now I have to fly out and pick it up!

Re: WHY
This hardly counts as a delay. It's a 2006 model and it will be available in the 2005 calendar year. A "delay" would be like when Pontiac announced the Solstice would come out in March and then it hit dealer lots in September/October.

Re: WHY
I'll add to the speculation... saw on TOV yesterday from one of the dealer-connected sources that HMC was making sure that the 'engine stalling' problem (a la Prius) definitely wouldn't happen with the HCH, and delayed until they assured themselves that it wouldn't. Dunno how much credence that has, but given the new quasi-EV mode of the HCH, maybe there's some truth to it.
AFAIK, the dual-scroll A/C compressor is of the same design as is currently in the HAH - and I haven't heard of any problems with that ownership base. So I guess we're all still guessing.
And to comment on the last post - the HCH *is* delayed. It was announced to be 'on sale' (ie; available) on Oct 19. That's what they did with the NA Civic - the cars even popped up a week early in some places (and HMC moved up the release date). 30 days officially qualifies as a delay in my book.
