No recall on my '04 HCH MT. I don't think all cars were affected.
Mine runs just fine, thank you : )

Maybe you just haven't gotten your letter yet. I also have a 2004 HCH MT and I got the letter Monday. Mine was originally sold new in March 2004.

On the Honda Ownerlink site, it does not report that there are recalls on my VIN, but I got the recall letter and my VIN is on the letter.....Kinda confusing !!!

Remember, it's not a recall, it's a "Product Update".

My 2005 HCH ULEV is going in Saturday morning for the "upgrade." I'm glad I've only got 2900 miles on it for the recall so potential damage is minimal if any, but I do hope this tweaking doesn't lower MPG too much. Summer's hot in Florida and I'm already spamming the AC every trip.

I got my recall notice today. Anyone that has had it done does the MPG numbers act differently?

"Anyone that has had it done does the MPG numbers act differently?"

Okay I'll bite. I got mine done Tuesday, and today I took a trip to the Bay Area (about 100 miles each way).

I found myself wondering on this trip, "whoa, is my gas mileage really this good?" I ended up with 53 mpg going 65 with the A/C on (it's about 105 today), with a couple of nasty backups. In the past, on this trip, I got 51 mpg or so, without A/C.

It is a very small sample, and probably an aberration. However, I did find myself wondering if the software change made any difference.

Watch this space, and expect to see me sheepishly confess that after a longer examination, it made no difference whatsoever. But until then, I can always hope. :-)

I just got my letter and there is no mention if it on my Ownerlink site. I'm going to ask the dealer tomorrow when I get it serviced.

Hehe. My trip MPG was at 52.6 when I dropped it off. It was at 52.2 when I picked it up. I hate letting other people drive my car!

When I pulled in to the service lanes, I saw my bar aquaintance (beer... not law) and Honda employee Ronnie. He asked why I had brought my car in, and I told him it was for the recall notice. Ronnie told me he'd just got done doing one, and found that the software was already at the latest version!

Lo, and behold, when I picked up my car this afternoon, my receipt said "SOFTWARE AT THE LATEST VERSION", so I suspect that mine was taken in for no reason, too.

It seems that Honda sent that letter out to all HCH owners, but not all of us needed the update.

My question was aimed more at the MPGs that you see when driving. For example: Right now I see 49.2, 49.6, 49.9, 50.3. I was wondering if the update let us see all the MPGs?

I received a notice on my 2003 CVT HCH. It's going in next week. I called Honda (via the number on the letter) to ask more detailed questions and they could not help me at all - just referred me to my dealer.

I have over 60,000 miles on this car and have had many issues with this car. I was seeking specific information on what type of damage to the IMA batteries and catalytic converter could result. If the update protects these components, what about cars that didn't have this "software protection" over the last 20, 60, or 100 thousand miles?

I'm very interested if anyone has had any components replaced or repaired as a result of this "product update."
