PCMCIA memory card reader possibilities

Re: PCMCIA memory card reader possibilities
Compact Flash might be the solution! I have a SanDisk 5 in 1 card and use an SD card. I've only had success with one of my SD cards. The other five just won't read in the car (they work fine in my laptop!). Unfortunately, the card it works with is only 256mb... so I only have a small music selection on it. I've basically given that up for the MP3 cds. That works just fine for my needs (along with my XM radio that I added on).

Re: PCMCIA memory card reader possibilities
Thank you for replying, Sandisk makes both a regular and a Ultra model flash adapter, which one do you have ? I tried a combination of http://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-COMPACTFLASH-SDCFB-4096-A10-Retail-Package/dp/B000- 243DOE/sr=1-1/qid=1167482926/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-3209262-4902442?ie=UTF8&s=elect- ronics and http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SDAD-38-A10-CF-Card-Adapter/dp/B00006B9QD/sr=1-54/- qid=1167483098/ref=sr_1_54/002-3209262-4902442?ie=UTF8&s=electronics . I can't get the card to work right, only way I was able to get music to play was to use a smaller faster SanDisk 1 GB Extreme III card. Sure would love to be able to use a larger card. Does anyone else have any sugestions ? Thanks !!

Re: PCMCIA memory card reader possibilities
The adapter must be the plain old vanilla kind - i don't have the box anymore but it doesn't say Ultra anywhere on the adapter. The card is a PQI 2 gb 60 (whatever that means).

Re: PCMCIA memory card reader possibilities
I think the problem is a familiar one for us pre-Win XP PC users--not every peripheral works as b/c specs do vary in every rig. In this case, the rig is the Honda Civic!
The moral of the story: try one of the set-ups recommended here, do not buy online unless they have a good return policy, and keep the receipt!

Re: PCMCIA memory card reader possibilities
I tried a combination of,
http://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-COMPAC...s=elect-ronics and http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SDAD-3...&s=electronics .
This combination works on my 2007 civic and only cost me $85.00 My main stumbling block it turns out was that you can have a single file on the whole card it doesn't like and it will either act (freezes up and resets Navigation unit) up or not play at all. I was able to finaly get 844 songs on a 4 GB compactflash card.
