I completely agree with the exhaust upgrade. I noticed a mpg increase on my CRX when I put on an aftermarket cat-back. How has the exhaust affected low-end torque? That tends to be the common complaint of a larger exhaust on a 4-cyl engine.

Can't really say I have noticed any negative impact on the low end, thought about that but figured the elect would remedy it and it seems to have.

I drove with one other HCH 5spd out to Lago Vista and **** near ran him down on all the uphills. I'd be curious to run another or get the opinion of another driver who's car is stock. How many miles do you have and what is your avg mpg?
I've just rolled over 7K miles, and my lifetime average is just over 52mpg (and climbing).

Those hills on 1431 are *steep*

I'm obviously not an expert on the exhaust, but in a hybrid you have an electric motor providing all kinds of low-end torque. I'd bet that whatever hit you took would not be noticable over the push you get from the electric motor.

My sentiment exactly, the elect seems to be making up any difference if there is any.

Broke my all time best going to work today by 3mpg and broke my all time best coming home by almost 9mpg.

Now this doesn't seem all that impressvie because with good control of the lead foot it is do-able but I did it with decent control and at higher speeds. another thing worth mentioning is since I did the exhaust I have plused up my tank average by 1.2mpg, not a bad increase considering the tank had 500 miles on it when I installed the pipe.
Food for thought.....

OK, now you got us all insterested. Where do we buy this muffler at? how hard is it to install if you've never done this sort of thing? What's the average that we'll be spending doing this? Could you give us some pictures showing it off on ur hch? I'm sure any info would be greatly appreciated not only by me but by everyone in this particular forum.

PS. I don't live in your area so I really can't invite you to some brewskies... but I can definetly send you one

PS. Sorry if that was stupid.

The pack is made by Hedman, it can be ordered/or is stocked at some auto parts stores/muffler shops, I went the "at my leisure" route and ordered it on-line from Summit Racing ($40 to the door).

HED-25005

In order to install it you will either have to be able to make/bend an exhaust or go to a muffler shop and pay them. Should cost less than $100 total (inc pack) but local shops charge what they want so it could be more. My total was $90 (inc pack) because I know/do a lot of business with this shop.
I do not have any before/after pics and they would not be very exciting if I did, any shop "should" be able to take off your stock system and make the new one follow the same route in a couple hours. If for some reason you go to one that cannot then consider another because it is not a difficult job by any means.

Wow for that price it seems worth it, it won't make any noise when FAS'd either. :-)

If you have time tell us about the airbox too please. Hills are my main problem.

thanks.

My bad hill (which you may have already read) killed my speed by 7mph, after intake 2mph, and after exhaust .5mph. If it didn't say it on the rear you wouldn't know it was a hybrid .

It is easier and cheaper than the exhaust, buy a cone filter (K&N, A&E, etc) with a 3" id, 6"'s of 3/8 id hose and your set. I am going to make a 3" id aluminum tube (maybe this weekend) to replace the stock but for now just use the stock one.
Remove the stock air-box assy leaving only the tube that connects to the motor, slide your new filter over the od of the tube and tighten it with the hose clamp that should have come with it. Now if you want to buy a CC breather then hook it up to you CC if not then (what I did) attach it to you end cap of you new air filter (I used a compressor nipple). That's it total mod should be under $40 if you buy a CC breather if not under $30.
