Mudflaps removable?
I just went to check out a possible 2nd HCHII for us, and apparently the dealership puts mudflaps on all their cars and tacks on $140.
This wasn't a problem for our last HCHII purchase, because we waited for it straight from the factory and I told them not to add anything.
So are they drilled into the bodywork or can they be uninstalled?
Thanks, Ian

Lucky you... click the link and you'll see the installation instructions for the mud guards!!

Looks like no drilling, but you do modify some clips and trim away some undercoating.

I installed them on my 05hch and they are attached by clips and by use of a self tapping screw that threads into the plastic part of the car body, then anchored with the metal clips. All you will need to uninstall them is a screwdriver, maybe a car jack and a jack stand. May need to remove a wheel to get at the screws unless you have a flex screwdriver.
95 - mudflaps
60 - Labor (approximation)

Looks like they a giving ~ %10-15 discount on the MF and passing on the labor cost. Reasonable from a dealer IMO.
If you don't have a jack and not prepared to take the tire off you will find it challenging to install the flaps, especially the rear.
I mail ordered mine and installed them myself... I also went the extra step of having them painted which IMO makes the car more appealing.

Ok, there is a plastic flap that gets removed in the rear wheel well upon installation. The Honda dealership's sales department keeps spares of these flaps just for troubler-maker customers such as myself.
So we are bringing the car in for a swap-out.
Thanks for everyone's help.
