You are trying to quote MSRP but messed up the numbers as well, as your 07 number is less than the 06 on the above quote. The dealer invoice for 06, meaning true dealer cost was less then 19500. The increase in MSRP was not matched by an increase in dealer cost.


I have no issue with this. They were selling the car too low at 21850 as it was relative to true market value.

I am a financial services manager for a Honda Dealer... I look at theses invoices all day long. I can assure you these are the correct numbers:

2006 Hybrid = $20845.23 incl destination (end of '06 MY) (MSRP $22745)
2007 Hybrid = $21270.72 incl destination (beginning of '07 MY) (MSRP $23195)

Let me get this correct the invoice price for the 2007 Civic Hybrid No Navi is:

2007 No-Navi ($450 increase over 2006 prices)

$22,270.72 which includes the $595 destination

$21,675.72 is the Dealer Invoice before destination

2006 No-Navi

$21820.72 includes $595 destination

$21225.75 before destination

I have been told that there is also a lower invoice for dealers that is the actual cost that they purchase the cars at, that is not advertised. It is around 3% off the advertised invoice, or something like that. I don't know if that is true, but it would be interesting to know.

 

As noted by ssj_chris the net dealer cost is invoice less holdback.

Holdback is 3% of MSRP before destination.

Invoice for 2006 non-navi Hybrid (incl dest, at the end of the model year) is $20845.23 less holdback of $664.50, net dealer cost = $20,180.73. More importantly, I have not seen any significant discounts off the MSRP of $22745 (incl dest). Reports of several hundred or even $1000 off MSRP seem to be the exception - our dealership has not had to go more than a couple hundred off (on rare occasion) as a goodwill gesture to make a deal.

Invoice for 2007 non-navi Hybrid (incl dest) is $21,270.72 less holdback of $678.00, net dealer cost = $20592.72 (incl dest).

Thanks for the info. My numbers were based on the early 2006 MSRP before the initial 300 dollar increase which began appearing in April 2006 on cars built after March 15th 2006 in Japan.

I have no problem with the pricing as this really is one stellar car that is preferable to me over a slew of much more expensive vehicles. ( obviously since I have one--hehe).

 

And there was also an increase of destination charge from $550 to $595 late in the MY. This increased the invoice another $45.

 

So is my price of $22,000 including destination and all season mats a good deal then??
