Default HondaCare...only available at time of purchase?

My mother-in-law recently bought a Civic (non-hybrid) and at the time of purchase the finance guy said she had to buy the HondaCare then or else if she bought it later her care would be considered "used" and charged a higher rate. He said this rule just changed. I remember buying my 2006 Civic Hybrid and having 60 days or so to buy it (and I did, but much cheaper from Bernardi. Is this new rule true?

That is what I thought but I have received a much cheaper quote from another dealer online like I did when I bought my car. My mother in law's finance guy said the rule just changed....I am dubious

Negative, one can purchase Honda care anytime but it's recommended before 6K miles (increased cost after 6K miles), I bought Honda Care bumper to bumper 6 years 120K miles / no deductible for $1k on a 2010 Civic Hybrid.

Here's the link.

Good luck

Followup: I contacted several of the national HondaCare sellers and got a price half of what the local place wanted to charge her. I told her to cancel her HondaCare through the local dealer and buy one from the national guys. Does Honda ever reject the reapplication after you ask for a refund on the first one? How long should I wait before applying for the cheaper one?

Is there any way to get more contact information? I'm about out of warranty and interested in getting quotes to extend it.
