I'm already looking towards replacement tires for my 06 HCH because I miss the Michelin Hydroedges (rainy season up here in the Northwest) I had on my 02 Camry. I'm enjoying every minute of my ride, with a second tank getting 49mpg. What a delight Sadie is all around! It's the ultimate Zen experience, forcing me to drive the speed limit or below. Let the others speed and get into wolf packs. I sit back and enjoy the quiet and the smooth handling.

I read on some site that the Hydroedges are highly rated as low rolling resistance "green" tires. Does anyone else have any recommendations for replacement tires that won't decrease the rolling resistance/mpg?

Do you mean head gasket? That's not entirely uncommon. A friend of mine replaced his head gasket with hand tools for $250 or something. Funny enough, you could replace the whole engine for $1000 or so if you find a reasonable shop. The engines themselves are typically $250-500 and then 8 hours or so of labor to swap it out. One of my co-workers had the engine take a dump on his 88 Accord and found a shop that did the whole motor swap for $800. Engines on those old things are probably like $100 now though.

 

9G-Man: I share the same sediments as you about waiting.CGameprogrammer is only 25 and you know how it was when you were that age, instant gratification, right?? I will wait the three more weeks so I can get the 2007 tax credit. Afterall, patience is a virtue!! I just don't see the rush in getting the vehicle now when basically a 1500 dollar difference will fall right into your lap.

We are going to see MASSIVE sales numbers for January 2006, probably a Hybrid record month. Hope the carmakers have this in mind and are planning on having enough cars on the lot !!!

 

If I had to guess, I'd say that Honda and Toyota went into 100% production capacity after Katrina and have held it there after seeing demand pick up and the feds pass the tax credit into law. In fact the only stories I've read about Toyota was how they were scrambling to find any way possible to boost their production capacity by at least a third for 2006.

 

I have to agree with you. I found out that my Magnetic Pearl with NAV has arrived and the dealership is holding it at their storage lot (not on the sales lot) until after the beginning of the year. I have four kids...I can't afford to give up the tax credit. If anybody is looking for a Honda in Colorado, definitely look into Ralph Schomp and talk to Ben...

 

Picked the car up last night before the snow started here in Virginia. The Salesman gave me the $500 but it was in form of a certificate. You only get a $50 coupon every month. I read the fine print when I got home and I have to mail in receipts for gas that I purchase within a 7 day period. Oh well, I guess I will be gassing up other people's cars too to spend the $50. Tomorrow I will clean her up and take some pictures so I can post them.

PS: I got a quote of $975 on the 6mo/120,000 mile extended warranty with the help of this site.
