Was driving home from a road trip today, and my civic started to make a grinding noise. It usually only does it when I first start it or when I go from a complete stop. It'll last until I get up to about 30 mphs. I looked under the hood to see if I could hear where it's coming from, and it sounds like it's coming from under the IMA casing. Any idea what it could be? Any suggestions help.

 

sounds like a start clutch but it shouldn't last past the start if it is. And if you take it easy off the start line does it not do it?


I did a filter change and fluid change on one of mine last weekend and it reduced that grinding more than 50 percent. I was surprised.




If your a quart low on tranny fluid it sounds really ugly. make sure it fills up the holes on the dipstick. If the holes are not filled its too low. My kid checked his and it wasn't registering and he thought it was good. The holes on the dipstick have to be filled up when you pull it out or its low.
