Angry A great tank ruined

According to the gas gauge, I was on route to at least 500 miles (or more) before a trip to the gas station. Last night temperatures plummeted and my morning commute was in the low 20's (F) instead of the 30's all last week. Now you can watch the gas gauge drop as you drive. Sad.

I just missed that. I was coming home from Xcels house last night (It was cold, but it was all highway driving) and pulled off some nice mileage. When I got near home I was at 1 bar and decided I might as well fill up.

I filled up to finish the tank off at about 45mpg.

This morning it was very cold. I used the remote start on my car. Was barely able to pull off 40mpg for the trip in to work. Had I not gone to Xcels house I would have ended up with a much lower tank. I just barely dodged the bullet.

I've come to the conclusion that instant mpg is a lot like football's instant replay - you see warts that you never realized were there.

Off topic on the Super Bowl, you wonder how the best refs could make so many bad calls....

Same thing happened to me last Sat. Refilled near home on the way to work (and reset trip meter A, as always). Last 2/3 of the trip was in nonstop rainfall that varied between heavy and torrential. Had to watch helplessly as the MPG meter drained from 59 to 49.

...I used the remote start on my car...

Is this something you added or is there something I don't know about my HCHII?

Hi kb101;

tbaleno added the "Remote-Start" to his (2003 HCH I) and also a Very High Powered Sound System.

See his Pics. at Link below:

I would much rather deal with head winds and low temps than try to make up for 50 miles of my wifes driving on a tank. Mother Nature has nothing on my wife in tank ruinage.
