Fuel Recovery Cannister? Valve? Hose? $1400?
Howdy. First time post. Just signed up. Been lurking for a while and have found some great advice.
Here's my question. Took the 2005 into the local dealership for 108k check engine light and an IMA light that went on a few days ago.
The good news: Battery will be replaced for free (I'm in Cali)
The bad news: The sensors threw out codes regarding the fuel recovery system and apparently the cannister, the valve, the hoses etc. need to be replaced to the tune of about $1400. Does this sound right? Anyone have experiences with the fuel recovery system?
I'm wary because I've read about sensors malfunctioning or not having the gas cap tight enough, filling up the tank too far, etc.
I'm getting the battery replaced tomorrow but I'm going to get a second opinion (and cheaper opinion hopefully...)
