Wow congradulations jahwerx!
Now that you know how to do it, don't stop there, do another one!

I'm on my way as well.
I've passed 500 miles and have 3 bars above 1/2 tank left.
66.9 on the dash for this tank.
I've had a 5-10MPH tailwind on the first half of my commute, but the wind doesn't let up at all on my way home @ 3:00AM.
I've had to adjust my speed and it takes me about 10 minutes longer to get back home.
But I'm beating mother nature in my attempt.

I hope to cross 1K miles on this one too.

Hi Jahwerx and Lars-ss:

___Hey, you had at least another 30 miles to go RJBarlow posted that he has filled his HCH (non-PZEV) up with 16.0xx something gallons just a few weeks ago … Jahwerx, that may come in handy when you push her to 1,050 and then an 1,100 mile tank the next time or two! I believe there is only RJ that has driven an HCH that far on a single tank to date so congratulations are indeed in order! And I bet it feels really good to receive Insight like FE and range in a 4-door sedan, doesn’t it

___Hot_Georgia_2004, may the Hypermiling gods that be, smile brightly upon you over the next 500 + miles

___Anyone want to loan me an HCH for a week so I can play too I promise I will be really gentle with her

___Good Luck

Absolutely do it! and once there are 3 of us, we'll need to get special bumper stickers!

Oh, ignore the fuel gauge when it starts to get low. It will simply drive you nuts!

BTW, How the heck do you calculate a headwind or tailwind?

Also, thanks to everyone for the support. I hope MOST of my tanks from now on will be up in this range. I just remember how psyched I was when I got my first 700 mile tank. The car seems to be really smoother and more broken in now that it has over 10,000 miles on it. I'm hopeful that the mileage won't plummet like it did last winter when the weather turned cold. If so, I'll definitely configure a heat scavenger.

Wayne- Believe you me I'd be happy to put let you put mine to better use than I can right now. Hurricane Ophelia has been sitting stationary 100 miles offshore of me for the last 3 days and I can't bounce my new tank past 50 or 51 MPGs from all the rain and nasty wind. Poor things deserves better.

Hi HelterSkelter:

___Besides HawkGT, you may be the only other person in history to hypermile in/through a hurricane

___Jahwerx, if you have great temps and weather for the next tank as well as a very high Trip A/B, why not run her out to see where it ends up and how much she can really hold? A gallon jug in the car near the end of the tank and your set … I believe RJ did this in his HCH and my Accord and Ranger have both run out … Just to see how much they would hold of course

___Good Luck

Wayne,

With this weather, I'm consistently able to get 69 or better MPG round trip to work now, so I might just have to do the "run it dry" test. I'm game for doing it just to try and get 1,100 miles. . . . but if its already been done with an HCH by RJ as you indicated, don't we know the absolute tank capacity already?
