@Harold:

Pennzoil 0W20 Platinum (syn) is what I got also. Since they're quarts, I got 4, figuring to throw in at most an extra cups worth from the 4th quart. When I was literally "picking it up", I had two or 3 cradled with the bottoms towards my chest before I noticed the pool of oil on the shelf: groan...

Had to soak my jacket in some biologic cleaning solution and then machine wash. Forget the name of the stuff.

@Ridgen:

K&N are reputable, but it's the re-usable filter requiring periodic cleaning and oiling that puts me off, too tricky. I'd rather have the "known quantity" of a disposable, at least for this application. I don't want to be wondering that a performance drop-off is due to an over-oiled filter reducing air flow, or have an under-oiled filter allowing debris into the engine.

I used a K&N filter, in conjunction with alternate carbueretor jets and some extra ventilating of of the air intake, on a Honda Hurricane. Even there it was diminishing returns.

I am talking about the K&N oil Filters, those are disposable. As for the air filter, I have heard from many different sources that these get getter the dirtier they are.

Ahh, I understand now. I've got air filters on the brain. If you want, give K&N oil filters a try. My 2 cents, there's no way it will change your fuel economy. Two things you might try are cleaning the air intake at the throttle plate (relatively simple, it gets a build up of tar from recerced gasses), and checking your valve clearance (more involved, but worth doing well ahead of schedule, say around 20000km), any time after the engine's broken in, really. Here's a couple of links:
