I've seen at least two sets of those stickers improperly placed on a Highlander Hybrid and a Toyota Matrix during my commute. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get their license plate numbers.

I hate this as I have my application in now (no plates, got fastrak and sent it off hoping). A glimmer of hope is from Fran Pavley who setup 2628, and she says:

Update, July 27, 2006 -- The 75,000 limit for stickers authorized by Assembly Bill 2628 is quickly approaching, at which time the DMV will stop issuing them. As of July 27, 2006, the DMV has received 73,284 applications, with 62,181 sticker sets issued. The 73,284, however, includes applications that were incomplete and returned to the requestor.

All applicants must meet strict requirements. Applicants must own a hybrid vehicle that can achieve 45 miles per gallon or higher, have their license plates registered with DMV, and own a FastTrak responder if the applicant resides in the Bay Area. Incomplete applications will be denied.

I will keep you informed as we reached the 75,000 limit and more information becomes available.

If only 62k stickers have been issued, then almost 1 in 7 applications is denied. I wonder how many people with hummers and SUVs are apply for it?

I saw a Honda Accord with them on this week near where I work in Downtown LA. I think she stole them, because she was so dumb, she only had two and they were on the right and left rear wheel wells. Dumb. I hope she gets busted.

 

If only 62000 have been issued then that means there are still 13000 stickers left. I get my plates on Monday and I'll apply at that time so I seriously doubt I'll have an issue getting my sticker before they run out. Now if you dont get apply until late September or October then yes you might be running the risk of them being at the 75000 limit.

 

Good luck with it. They've probably got around 500 left, based on the LA Times article count a few days ago. Who knows if there's a back log of apps. already there?

 

Did you read the article?? Yes they got almost 75000 apps but they also rejected about 13000 apps hence only 62000 issued.

 

Did you? Where did it say they rejected that many? It says they've issued 62,355 and received 74,108 of an allotment of 75,000. They probably haven't gotten around to the rest yet. It also goes on to say, "At this point, there's no guarantee you're going to get a sticker."

Anyway, do whatever you have to do at this point to get your app in

 

We received sticker #66,4xx on July 22, since then another poster said they received #68,xxx on July 27th.

The 75k limit is quickly approaching!
