Question Broken Pass. Mirror

I was ready to drive home from work today when I noticed that my passenger side mirror was broken off. The glass was not broken and it appeared that someone had just kicked it off for the fun of it. I called my local dealership and was told $320. (Canadian) to replace it plus installation. Couldn't believe the cost so I got on the 7'th generation Honda Civic site and ebay to look for something a little more affordable. Nothing was of interest on ebay but the Civic site had a set of used mirrors from a Civic Si for sale. Does anyone know if these would fit the Civic Hybrid (2003)? I called the dealership and was told they couldn't tell unless they had the part number from the mirror. When I asked if any Si mirrors fit the Hybrid he said he didn't know for sure. He just wanted my $320.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hey Bill;

I guess I am a little confused that the Honda dealer does not know if the Si Mirror will work or not when all the Dealer/Parts Department has to do is look the two mirrors up in their Computer. Puzzled

Sounds like the run around to me.

If your in Canada and I take it that you are. Don't forget that Canadian Mirrors are Heated Mirrors and the Mirrors that come to the good old U.S.A. are not Heated.

What about your Insurance on your car? It won't cover something like this?

Good-Luck;

Terry

US si mirrors will not fit civics. Don't know if the same is true in Canada.

Have you checked the price at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com ? Its an easy enough thing to replace yourself so you could try to save money that way.

I am also in Canada. Last summer I parked my car (BMW 325xi) at the Markville mall in Markham, Ontario. When I came out after 1/2 hour the passenger mirror was missing (the glass part), there was no sign of force. I went to the BMW dealership and they replaced it under warranty. I assumed that it had fallen off because of poor workmanship.
Looking back, maybe the mirror was kicked out. ???

The Canadian Civic Si is the US Civic EX. The "Si" in Canada is called the SiR.

I'm impressed that you care if you have a passenger side mirror. Most people could have a naked picture of Jennifer Anniston in that spot and never know it for as often as they look over there. :-)

Hey;

cb450sc, I really have to tell you if it were me I would put back on my Hybrid what came on it from Honda.

It may cost more but in the Long-Run I think you will be Honestly a Whole lot Happier.

That's just my {Personal-Thought} for what it is Worth.

In any case I wish you best in your Final Decision:

Regards;

Terry
