Ac compressor grinding

Re: Ac compressor grinding
Well lookie her, its my thread...a couple of months ago
Bought same year with same problem. The shorter belt will work fine, I did that. Cheap fix.
I bought a clutch off ebay, bad idea. Then bought new compressor off ebay, say 115 bucks? Sounds about right but you have no electrical so you have the cheap one.
The job is really easy, go in from the front wheel well, and don't bend the bracket. It goes through the hole. Bend that cheasy bracket to get the bolt out and you will spend the next couple of hours trying to bend it back right.
I cant find my personal notes but I did bookmark this page which was the beef on the belt. Like I said cheap fix, buys you lots of time easy to install.

I will find the link of my compressor that I chose.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-C-Compress...-/131587502339
and here is the clutch I bought and threw in the trash. (not really, added to the pile but worthless still and wasted money)

here is the drier I bought

The job is cake, cheap, all good. But either get the shorter belt or replace the compressor. the clutch will get so hot it will melt the belt. Ask me how I know. Its called AAA towing.
Autozone will rent you a pump and gauges for free via their loaner tool program. Have a place that advertises free ac inspections evacuate the system. I did it during an inspection the other day and he didn't charge me. He keeps your Freon. Swap out the compressor, 3 bolts holding it on to the car, 1 in each hose. Oil the o rings out of the pipes, shove em in the new and swap out the drier same way. Pump it down an hour or two, fill it up with two cans of Freon.

Re: Ac compressor grinding
Thanks for the reply man! So were you saying you got the shorter belt until you got the time and money for the whole ac compressor change?
I needed a car to get to work. You can take that part number to any parts store and get a similar belt for cheap. I drove it to work with a short belt, ordered the clutch, messed that up, ordered the compressor, installed that, put the right belt on and threw that short belt in the trunk for a rainy day.
Its easy to put on, just don't try to look at what your doing just feel it go over the pulleys.
worked like a champ!
