Default 84.2 miles @ 64.8 mpg!!!

Honda's Civic Hybrid II can hold there own against any other hybrid out there. I think honda has made a great car with this HCH II.

What was the city/highway share? What was your average speed? Hilly? Flat? Enquiring minds want to know!

If you wouldn't mind sharing your technique with us fellow HCH II owners who seem to be stuck at 46mpg, it would be much greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeff

I would say 10 miles city and 74 highway. Avg. speed was between 55-65 mph. All this took place during my drive to work this morning. As far as the surface of the roads, most of it was flat. I really do not have any secrets but from what I have experienced is this, that I get better mileage when I am controlling the speed and not the car. I rarely use the speed control. Also, do not go FAST or excel FAST. This will kill your mpg. One more thing is do not go in the fast lane. It will tempt you to go faster then necessary.

What do you get when going the opposite direction on the same route?

To be honest, this is the first time I took this way to work. Only reason I went 84.2 miles (instead of my normal 75miles) was because there was an accident on the freeway I normally take and I wanted to avoid it. This way was 10 miles longer but some parts were downhill and I just coasted. Now if I would take it back I do not think I would come close to this mpg avg.

Anyone notice that 63 miles is 100 kilometers? (To be precise, 100 KM is 62.15 miles). Seems to me like a software bug resetting the trip MPG at 100 KM. My HCH appears to do it.

I knew there was something bugging me about that number...

Good catch. It is too coincidental to not be related.
