It's improving now! I've got about 350 miles on this first tank, and the MPG is now at 39.9. I'll finally be in the 40's with tonight's commute home!

FYI, one of the ways to manage the two trip meters is have one for the tank mileage, and one for each trip. Means you have to calculate lmpg (by keeping tank records), but not a biggy. The other popular method is to devote one to tank average and one to lmpg.

I prefer the former method. That allows me to compare different driving habits and conditions over my daily commute (or any trip). More accurate (and gratifying) than just watching a tank average.

I generally reset my trip B meter each morning before beginning my commute.
