43.7mpg first tank of gas!
I just wanted to let everyone know that I got 43.7mpg on my first tank of gas. It took 11.1 gallons to fill up and there were not any bars left on the gas gauge. My total miles on the trip gauge was 484.8. My trip A gauge read 43.7 so I figured it out manually and it came to 43.68 which makes me believe that the trip A gauge is pretty accurate. Considering it is wintertime here in the northeast I think that mileage is pretty good! Plus I have never driven a hybrid before I got this car. We have had a variety of weather the past 10 days since I have had the car as well. We have had rain, snow, and also had some days in the 50's.
There was one more thing I wanted to ad. I hit the trip B gauge when the low fuel indicator came on and I went 37.5 miles before filling up the tank and I still had 1.3 gallons left in the tank.

Please make sure to add your car to the database.
My first tank was also 43.7, but I only have a 15-20 minute commute and it's mostly in the 20's in the morning. Can't wait for warmer weather.

Click the green "Compare" button at the top of your browser window. Next click the "Manage My Cars" link on the left. If you don't have your car listed, you'll have to add it first. To do that, click the "Add a Hybrid Car" button, fill out the necessary fields on the next screen, and click the "Add This Car" button.
Now to add a tank of fuel, click the "Manage My Cars" link again, then click the "Add A Tank" button. Fill out all the info and click one of the buttons on the bottom.

How many bars were on your fuel gauge when the low fuel light came on? Did you say that when you filled up, there weren't any fuel bars left?! You're extreme!

I also had 2 bars left on the fuel gauge when the light went on and they BOTH disappeared after only about 15 miles. I was pretty nervous driving those last few miles with no bars.
Glad to hear I could have probably gone further but I'm not going to test that theory.
For those who don't read the manual, when the low fuel light displays it means you have
1.71 US Gallons left in the tank.
I have 2 bars left and the light hasn't come on yet. I'm getting a little nervous. When the light comes on, I'll try to squeeze another 40 miles out before filling.

Chris, your light will come on soon and those two bars will disappear fast as well. By the way, I did read that in the manual about the 1.7 gallons remaining in the tank when the low fuel indicator comes on.
Your milage will increase after awhile. Somehow, that is the way it is for new cars.
Plus 50mpg is ultra optimistic anyways. Normal drive will not give you more than 45-47mpg.
still good comparing to real world 24mpg of a Camry.
