Default 2004 civic engine noise in drive

My honda only makes a noise while in drive. When I am parked it does not make that whining noise. Any help would be great!

If you have the CVT and the noise occurs when you accelerate from a stop then it probably needs a new CVT start clutch.

Mine went out around 130K miles and I believe the repair cost around $1,800. Apparently they must pull the CVT out of the car, tear it apart to install the start clutch kit.
