Default '09s have more seat padding.

Was at the local autoshow over the weekend. Sat in an '09 EX-L and a '09 HCHII. Both seats are noticeably more cofortable than my '06 and '07.

The salesman said that the number one complaint of the Civic was that the seats were too hard and Honda responded by making them softer.

Hi noflash
Are you still finding your seats uncomfortable? I find mine to be OK since raising the front 1 1/4". I have driven 8 hrs. with only two 5 min. breaks. But I agree that the seats would be better if softer or maybe a better quality foam would do the trick?. Maybe a 2009 is the answer? I only have 20,000 miles on my 2006, so I think I'm in for the long term. Let us know if you find a salution.
Cheers,H

My car is better with the seat front raised. However, the seat padding is light. Driving my other car this weekend (with no front height adjustment) was painful for me after only an hour of driving.

I can't justify getting a new car... yet.

Did you get a chance to check out the headrests? Are they the same?

having owned an 07 HCH II and my new 09 HCH II there is no change in the padding on the seats. The default seatback angle is different but the padding is the same.

The only reason to upgrade is for either the Leather or the VSA. I had VSA on my Ridgeline and wanted it on my Civic. Boy it works great on the icy roads we have had for the last 2 days. It goes off ( fixing traction loss ) a lot. It shows an orange triangle when it is saving you butt.

The seats, leather and cloth, felt better padded to me. Why would the salesman offer that out of the blue?

I did not notice any change in the headrests.

I drove an '08 today and the seat seemed harder than my car's. Maybe it's just that this car has way less miles than mine, so it's not worn in yet.
