Good point on the warranty, but it's to 80k or at the most 100k. These cars are past that.

Thanks - I wasn't sure. I think it will be interesting to see which has more to do with battery wear - time or mileage (assuming "normal" driving where the batteries are not unusually stressed). There are a couple HCH owners with 90K+ miles - no reports (that I can recall) on failed or degraded packs.

The battery in my '05 got drained completely once while waiting in line at a credit union drive through. The car was in auto-stop mode and the a/c was not running (of course). The headlights were not on. I only listened to the radio for about five of the twenty-five or so minutes I was stuck there. When I put it back in 1st and let off the brake.... nothing! I flipped the key to 'start' for the customary amount of time... nothing. I turned the key to 'start' for longer and WHOA WTF! The STARTER motor kicked in! That was only the second time I'd ever heard that noise from that car. The first time was when I started it up to drive it off the dealer's lot.

To this day, I'm still have no idea how sitting in one spot for 25 minutes, using no accesories except the radio (for 5 minutes) could've drained that battery.
