Anyone buy the spare tire?
I'm still confused, or maybe just incredulous. You mean the "kit" includes the tray and the wheel for the donut spare, without rubber. And the rubber for the donut is a separate item? And I have to find someone to mount the rubber on the wheel? This makes so little sense that I'm thinking I misunderstand.
Thanks for your patience and help.

Hi hahguy
Yep - you got it - sad but true (unless Honda have changed it since I got mine a few months ago)
I assume they do it this way so you can replace the rubber without having to re-buy the rim etc.
Before I bought the parts I made sure the dealer would mount the rubber on the rim as part of the purchase - apparently it needs different gear from normal tire mounting
See my previous posts on this thread for details

Well, I'm off to the junk yard. Hopefully, they'll have a spare that's compatible for my HAH. I'll post pics and price if (I get one/they have one).
OK:
My dealer ordered the "kit" but it doesn't include the tire ... as you know;
but NO ONE can tell me the size the tire is supposed to be! I need a brand,
and the "numbers" for the tire. (PS: 15" woun't cut it, I need ALL the #'s).
Thanks,
Stan Smart

Stan: Your dealer should be able to order the tire as well - See earlier posts in this thread for the part number.
Just for you I pulled my spare out of the trunk. The numbers that seem relevant are:
Goodyear T135/90D15 100M - Let me know if you need any other numbers.
Note: This is actually my second spare tire. A while after getting the origional tire (using the part numbers posted earlier) I noticed there were some significant cuts in the side wall - I guess from when the dealer mounted the tire on the rim. Luckily the dealer was good about it and replaced the tire "under warranty".
bar10dah: I guess the Junk yard got Junked
Update: went to another junk yard today that specializes in Hondas. They checked their database, plus every junk yard that's also connected to this database, and couldn't locate it. Guess I'll have to go the dealer route.
While there, I did see a Navi system in their display case. I forgot to ask about the price before I left, but if anyone is interested, I can get you a phone number and you can ask them yourselves.

Went to Honda to order my kit/tire. Of course, they could pull up the kit, but not the tire. I had forgotten the piece of paper that I had the part numbers from this thread written down on.
So, I'm back home, looking in the thread again for those numbers. Got 'em!
Something that we noticed at the parts counter today was that the kit is VIN specific. I don't recall the ranges, but the first kit ends in A00 and the second kit ends in A01. Not sure why. Maybe they made a slight change in the shape of the trunk mid-model?
Anyways, I'm on my way back to see if they can get that tire.

Okay, got the wheel kit, but waited on the tire. Someone on this forum bought part # 42751-GYR-035 List Price $ 69.48 and have it fitted onto the rim yet? I just want to be sure that's the right size tire before I buy it. Also, my Honda dealer told me it'll cost $77, not the $69.48 that's listed in this thread above somewhere.
The VIN breakdown is:
up to 5C018441 orders 06421-SDR-A00
5C018442 and up orders 06421-SDR-A01

Called 888-541-1777 and spoke to Adrian at extension 224. He can get the Bridgestone tire for $78 and the Goodyear for $76. I forgot to ask him about shipping charges. Both tires are T135/90D15 100M.
Big O Tire
Called 623-556-0861 in Surprise, AZ. Said they couldn't order it. Also said they've never even seen one brought into the shop. If I wanted one I'd have to get it through the dealership.
Discount Tire
Called 623-544-2811 in Surprise, AZ. They can't order it also. The guy I spoke to said the only place to get them from is the dealership.
Honda Dealer
Arrowhead Honda in Peoria, AZ said they could get 42751-GYR-035, which someone has already mentioned it was a Goodyear tire, for $77. They said they couldn't mount it.
Goodyear Auto Service Center
3515 W Union Hills Rd, Glendale, AZ 85308. 602-863-9494. They said their computer showed ONE tire in the Shelby Warehouse. Cost was $114!! I told him I could get the tire from Honda for $77 and asked if he could mount it. Yes, at $16. I think we've finally found a winning combination!

The junk yard I went to wasn't there anymore! I thought those places stick around forever! I hope to go out to one in Mesa AZ tomorrow.
