I queried the local MegaSuperStore tire and oil place on the "we will not oil change Hybrids until further notice" sign. They cited an issue with having to get the oil up to 35 psi pressure and that their facilities and liability would not support that. Tires...oil...limited service writer knowledge...I just hope the guys in the back got the minivan's new tires right.

Had to get oil Pressure up to 30 lbs of pressure?
Didn't think when you put oil in that you had to put it in under pressure.

Its almost certainly a service rep's (or their manager who told them) gobbledygooked misinterprtetation of some other, tangentially related, specification (like the engine oil system operating pressure, maybe).

Essentially playing telephone, with a barely technical spin.

The only thing more dangerous than ignorance is standalone information without proper context and understanding.

If they don't know anything more about cars than this, I wouldn't even let them rotate the tires on my car! Find a more knowledgeable place to work on your vehicle before they mess up something that can hurt or kill you, like lug nut torque, brakes, etc.

Expert: Ex, the unknown factor; spurt, a drip under pressure.

Didn't have much of a choice at 9AM Easter morning having to haul a carload of kids. But I do have to admit the tires have worked OK so far.
