10 more HP on premium fuel

Re: 10 more HP on premium fuel
I just went to Honda's web site and the 2006 HCH is listed at 10.8:1. All the V6 Accords for 2007 are listed as 10.0:1. I wonder if the HCH would have an HP increase on premium?

Re: 10 more HP on premium fuel
I have a 06 HAH, for the last two tanks ive been putting 91 octane and have noticed a big difference in my low end. Espeacially since i think the software update took some power away. As for MPG i think it improves a good amount in city conditions, and just a little on the highway. V6performance.net also stated that honda techs said there was a 10hp increase with 91 octane.

Re: 10 more HP on premium fuel
All I can say is that we use premium in our '05 HAH, and with ~9000 miles on it, it is getting quite powerful! My wife and I were remarking just the other day how quickly this hybrid car accelerates. Its nice to know that you can have a performance car that is environmentally friendly and has a large margin of safety for passing. Not everyone wants to drive around in an Echo or Insight.

Re: 10 more HP on premium fuel
The difference in HP between 253 and 263 more than likely would not be felt. It would be evident on a dyno, but not "seat of your pants."
I do have an accelerometer, but I would have a hard time trying to duplicate my driving conditions between tanks in order to get an accurate reading on it which would reflect any changes in power with the different octanes. I could always try, though. I know the computer takes a while to slowly change the air/fuel/etc data points to accomodate the change in octane. Anyone knows about how long? A tank? Two?

Re: 10 more HP on premium fuel
Also, the Acura TL advertises it uses 91 octane fuel. Dive a little deeper and you'll find a disclaimer which says 91 is recommended for full horsepower/torque capability. But, 87 octane can be used with slightly less performance.

I'm like so in
Consider this Handled.
I cannot believe I have not seen/read this before [NOW].
93-Octane is on the way.
A Present for my 07 Accord Hybrid is on the WAY, A.S.A.P.

Powertrain. The V-6 engine storms. It produces less leap at low speed than you get from the thick torque in the Nissan Altima but otherwise is glorious. It revs so fast to the redline that it'll beat your reflexes, leaving you scrambling to shift the manual transmission to the next higher gear in time.
Torque is the key to quick starts from dead stops. Accord's 240-hp V-6 is rated 212 pounds-feet of torque. Altima's 240-hp V-6 is rated 246 lbs.-ft.[/B]
The Accord V-6 ratings assume regular-grade fuel, and Honda will market it as a regular-fuel engine. But — pssst — it's good for another 10 hp and 10-plus lbs.-ft. on premium, acknowledges V-6 engineer Asaki.
