On the key ? I know people who got the feature but only through an acura (CSX) parts order.

No, I do not believe any study sponsored by GM saying that they are effective at all.

During transitory lighting periods, drivers should be smart enough to know when to use their headlights. Perhaps DRLs are of some use there, but they're no substitute for educated, attentive drivers. I've been on the interstate and come up behind vehicles that had DRLs but no 'Twilight Sentinel', so they were happily barreling down the road at 70+ mph with only their DRLs lit. If THAT isn't dangerous, I don't know what is. (One time I was forced to dial *55 and report it to the highway patrol as the morons in the minivan ignored my attempts to warn them by flashing my high beams, shutting OFF all my lights, etc. I should have followed them past my own exit to see them get stopped by the OHP.)

On my 2001 Corolla (and, I believe, all Corollas beginning with the 2001 model year), the DRLs are not a separate bulb. They use the low beam lamps (which accelerates their burning out because they are run at a lower wattage than can heat the filaments enough to keep the halogen cycle going.) On other cars (like a lot of Saturns and Chevy Cavaliers), the DRLs use the high beam lamps. Again, not a separate bulb.

 

Sorry, I misunderstood. It's not on the key, but THAT would be a nice feature.

 

Why a remote for the trunk? The only time you would use it is when you are outside of the car so why not use the key? Too many gadjets allready!

 

That's funny. We had black ice today so we drove the Outback for erands instead of the HCH. I commented twice that I wished that the OB had a remote truck popper that actually OPENED the trunk instead of just unlocking it. I guess I'm spoiled...

Edit: And I actually have used the popper from inside the car--it was easier than bending over to hit the remote lever (yes, I am spoiled).

This feature is my wife's all time favorite. When she is leaving the grocery store with 2 sacks of stuff, she loves to come out to the car, and pop the trunk from the remote fob without having to fumble for keys.
