Default Valve Cover Gasket

Hello All,

I am newbie here. I just started to do a tune up on my 2006 honda civic hybrid. When I removed one of the of the spark plugs, I saw moisture. It smell like gas but looked like oil. Probably the combination of the anti-seize and gas/oil.

The common fix for this is changing out the valve cover gasket and spark plug seals and grommets. I got myself the hondabond HT liquid gasket and valve cover kit. My only problem is removing the plastic case in between the air filter and engine cover grommet.

I took a flat head and pressed it out, but it seems like in the back there is something holding it. It soooo tight there is no room to see or work. It looks like something is buckled in the back - tie wrap pressed i.e. like how you would wear a belt. The cover has never been taken apart so, everything is authentic everything around that area is placed like when it was sold through the dealer.

I need to take that off because it is hovering over 10mm bolt on the valve cover.

Any recommendations or anyone that experienced this has a easy fix?

Much appreciation!

Did you ever figure this out? Having the same issue now when attempting to do valve clearance adjustment.

Yes, there's a bracket holding a wire harness right above the left rear valve cover bolt. My solution was to tug it out of the way while pushing a socket down onto the bolt. It's a tight fit and the bracket doesn't want to give, but with a little controlled force you can get down in there and loosen the bolt.
