Default Anyone self-install their EGR valve?

Hello all,

My HCH-I is sometimes having the bucking, lurching problem at low speed. I bought an EGR valve from majestic honda online.

Does anyone have the install steps to do this? Also does anyone know how much to torque the two bolts that hold it to the manifold?

Havent had to change it yet but it looks easy.

Here are the directions from the Service Manual

1. Remove the EGR valve 6P connector.

2. Remove the bolts (2)

3. Remove the EGR valve.

4. Install in reverse order with new gasket. Torque 17 lb/ft

I did it myself. It is as easy as it sounds.

Thanks mdline!

The install was very easy so long as you have an extension for your socket skinny and long enough for the top bolt.

Can anyone point me to or tell me how to find it on the parts list at hondaautomotiveparts.com?

Does it come with a gasket?

Thanks!

I cleaned the EGR valve about 20 000 km ago. It was starting to do this lurching dance routine. I took it off and cleaned it with carb cleaner, put on a new gasket and reinstalled. I have not had a problem since. Very easy to take off.

It is located in front of the engine on the passenger side.

Cleaning it seems to have done the trick for now. That was last fall when I did it, so every little bit helps. When I took it to the Honda dealer they said that it could not be cleaned. I discussed it with the auto shop teacher at the school I am at and he said that he has cleaned them before and it can't hurt to give it a try. It only takes a few minutes to get the part off and I let the cleaner soak in for about half an hour before reinstalling.
I did put a new gasket on it prior to the install.
