Turning friction sound and 1300rpm rattle
Hey all, Have a few questions.
So when I turn in either direction, I have noticed there is this sound that comes from the top of the shocks at the join area where it turns at, which I assume it just needs to be lubricated with something special, though for whatever reason that sort of thump rubbing sound doesnt happen on wet roads. Any suggestions?
I dont know if anyone has experienced this and its probably just a lose piece of plastic I cant find rattling, but at 1300 rpm there is this distinct rattle in the front right of the engine. Has anyone experienced this before? 1300rpm is about the sweet spot for it, give or take 50 rpm.

No suggestions regarding the first issue; however, my HCH-II has an engine rattle as well. It sounds metallic, almost like a metal ring rattling on an axle, but I can't find anything loose. Sometimes the sound is quite pronounced. As you note, it tends to happen right around 1300rpm (just above idle), and it seems to come from the front-right of the engine. I am beginning to believe it is the CVT making the noise, as the location is suspect and its timbre definitely changes with the CVT ratio/load (holding same/similar engine RPM). Higher or lower RPM it goes away, and it's intermittent. Sometimes it'll do it for minutes straight going down the road at town speeds, and then it'll be days before I hear it again. 436,000 miles and counting... I'd say it's been doing it occasionally for the last 100,000 miles and is more of an annoyance than anything else.

Sometime in the next month I'll have the expendable funds to replace the heat shield, but my main priority right now is replacing the IMA battery. I will report back if this is the issue sometime before the end of the year. It's either this or the upper left motor mount as it is recessed a little bit compared to how it should be, but nothing too terrible that it needs replaced just yet.
