UPDATE:

It is apparent that people would like to see Honda sell packages like Toyota does with the Prius. With that in mind, Honda should think about a Civic Hybrid-L. Honda should also consider using the EX line as a basis for the -L version of the Hybrid.

Would you be willing to spend $28,495.00 for a HCHII-L edition?

 

People already pay nearly that much for a Prius touring edition.

 

I think the car is perfect the way it is now and I wouldn't change a thing.

Not everyone wants a basic hybrid. That is why Toyota offers its version in 5 different packages.

That's my point. Since people are already spent/spend that much, Honda could really benefit from this especially since Honda discontinued the Accord Hybrid.

 

Yeah, but the point I try to make is that the HCH-II is not a basic car. Comparing it to the LX (also not a basic car) is a mistake, since the Hybrid has some features found only on the EX or Si, plus the expensive feature of auto climate control, which is not found on any other Civic. Also, comparing the 2007 Hybrid to 2008 Civics isn't fair because the 2008 Hybrid hasn't been released yet and no-one knows how it will be packaged.

I think leather and/or heated seats will be of immense value to buyers, and I'm less sold on the ideas of all-wheel disc brakes or sunroof, but as it stands right now the Hybrid package is excellent and appropriate for the car's class, size, and pricing. At some point you have to ask yourself, if I want a nicer car then why am I not upgrading in size class or switching to a luxury brand? The Civics are what they are; They're not built to be everything to everyone.

 

Huh? My wife and I picked up a 2008 Civic hybrid two weeks ago.

 

It is understood the Civic Hybrid is its own trim level.

If you break it down, the Hybrid is an LX platform with the following upgrades:
- Lower coil springs
- Alloy Wheels / LRR Tires
- Auto Climate Control
- Integrated Turn Signal Mirrors
- Electrical Motor Assist
- Battery Pack
- External Radio Antenna
- Rear Deck Spoiler

The only things unique to the Hybrid is the battery pack, engine, climate control and external antenna everything else could be installed on the regular LX model.

The mirrors, spoiler, wheels, the coils could all be installed on a LX based Civic to make it look like a Hybrid.

 

I don't know why you keep saying this.

All the models are based on the same car. Each is unique with it's own standard features.

We should be asking you to audit what, if anything, has changed for this model year. You're the first I've seen to say that they have one.

 

Please send Honda your findings....

In the meantime, if I had North of $28k to spend on last car, I probably would have purchased a TCH. Many HCH2 owners (like me) are very satisfied with the standard trim and performance of the HCH2. Other owners are apparently not satisfied.
