New Leather interior
I am just starting the process of installing a Katzkin black leather interior in my 2007 silver HCHII, I have the headrests/armrest done and am moving onto the backseat tonight.
The front seats scare me a bit though. Has anyone taken the back covers off of their seats to do leather? And maybe have pictures to share of the process?
I will be taking pictures of the process as well if anyone is interested.
The black does look really cool replacing a blue interior by the way.
Thanks! Bo

Re: New Leather interior
I have taken the back covers off to insert foam for lumbar. You break two clips that will need to be replaced. They are on the very bottom. Once you pop those off the back comes off easily.
FWIW, I did not replace mine, but have them loosley in place in case I need to further adjust the padding.
Try a seat upholstery shop for the clips (I think they have buckets of them).
Good luck.

Re: New Leather interior
I bought it on ebay for $160 (buy it now) for the kit and $40 shipping
I know, it was ridiculously cheap, I just logged on at the right time. It is really thick leather, (Katzkin brand) and looks like better quality than my old Land Rovers seats.
My friend used to insall leather in all types of cars, he told me to tackle it myself and that it is easy. I just found out that he will be moving back to Iowa in a week or so - so if things do not go smoothly he can help - I am nervous about installing the seat heaters as well.
Check ebay periodically - you might get lucky. This guy said that someone he knew bought them and decided that it was too difficult to install them.

Re: New Leather interior
i would think the black would look weird since the seat belts are still blue and the hardware. are you also going to do the door panels. please take pictures once you are done.
i have replaced my seats on other cars with katzkin. it isn't hard, just time consuming. i assume you have hog rings and the tool also.

Re: New Leather interior
I do have the tool as of today, and will tackle the rear seat tonight.
Did you have any difficulty, and what was your method of dealing with the front seats?
Thanks!
Bo
