My traction battery has never required charging My engine bat. has never started the engine! Hal

Hal- what is the longest amount of time that you have parked your car without driving?

Mark- I have left it twice for two mths. on both occasions. The SOC did not drop one diget on either occasion Both times were during the winter mths.. Hal

Great! I will just have my neighbor turn on the car and check the SOC at the end of 30 days--if all looks good then he does nothing.

My engine was started once by the engine battery. One morning is was about -27 F and I turn the key and the starter turns the engine over. After the engine started I noticed my SOC gauge at 6 pips. Is there some temperature at which the car will not used the traction battery even if charge is available?

I'm pretty sure there is, but I do not know what that temp is. It is to protect the IMA battery. Just like when it's TOO hot, the IMA battery will not aid in acceleration or take a charge. Well, I see this in Texas, anyway
