Re: Matt's hch2 blog
Matt,
Watch out bro ....
I see in one of your threads you note close to a 13 gal. fill-up. No fun limping & crawling with the flashers just a blazing if you run out of gas. I know some have stated you can top-out @ 14 gals. +, but that means overflow area. That means charcol filter element, which means vapor absorbsion not liquid absorbsion.
Could mean more harm than good to the system. Guess I am just a safe ol' duff & don't top-off beyond when the gas pump clicks-out. "Miles per gallon is the Ticket". After all, that's why we play this game. But, "No glory in my Book" with the mega tanks, if there is possibile damage as a result.
.... one never knows.
John
p.s. "Way Cool Plus" on the "5 Bar Assist".

Matt,
"The take as I was told is ....
It has been said by some not to place so much of the confindence factor in what a garage tech may tell ya, but then again... ...as I was told. When I made the stop @ the dealer to pick-up my licence plates early-on in this thrill-of-it-all experience, I figured it was time for the "Q's & A's" while enjoying a cup of java with the gent who would be my go-to-guy for setting-up shop maintance & misc. services. A lenghty conversation ensuded w/ plenty said, w/ these 3 items well remembered:
"High Octane Gas", may well be the wash when one considers price, but if you go looking for something different to run through the system, find a 100% oxygenated ( one without ethenol ) product. The corn base is the reason people see a drop in fuel economy. Yea I know, built for low emisions, but way more to it than 10%-15% of some additive to the mix.
"The CVT", being it has the belt & clutchs going for it was designed for foward movement. Regen braking by downshifting was never really part of the equation when designed. Sudden tighting of the clutch halves from throwing the works into a lower gear has seen belts stretched & replaced. Even @ very low speed a nada-to-do, as stated by two of the dealers mechanics.
"Gas Tank Vapor", there is a tube that runs from the top of the filler neck down to the underside of the car w/ a charcol canister attached. Enough in lenght to hold a gal. plus. To even add a few extra tenths @ the pump is enough to send gas where it isn't suppose to be. The service rep started getting on the techical ( always the drawback with my process of thought, lol. dopey me, lol ) side. Basicly, how can something do it's jazz dry, when wet.
.... just not your typical Set-Up".

Re: Matt's hch2 blog
thanks, john.
after re-reading tarabell's article this weekend, i've been trying to minimize the number of white bars of ev-assist displayed whenever possible, and it seems to be improving my fe.
