I F-ed up a 600+ mile tank today
Well I filled up with no pips showing and 570 miles. Filled too first click and took 10.4 gal. 54.4 mpg? So it appears that I still had 1.9 gal left. It is hard to keep going without any pips showing!!! I missed my 600 mile tank, no jam! It was only showing 50.7 on the display. H

You should add your information in the mileage database.
1. Slow down a little on freeways - much above 60-65mph and the tires/wind will take a lot out of your mileage. Yes, many/most will be passing you.
2. Speaking of tires - pressing them up to ~40psi or so helps
3. Think of your redline as 2500 rpms max - you should be able to get up to speed without really gassing it.
4. Around town, drive like you only have 2-3 more presses on the brake - try to anticipate stoplights (better to slow than have to stop) and dont try to take ramps/corners so fast you have to use the break.
Im no expert but am getting above 55 regularly. There are experts on here to help you out.
how are you getting so many MPG? I just bought my hybrid two days ago and would love any suggestions for improving my mpg. I'm trying to be really gentle on the gas (still difficult, I just traded in a 300+ HP/12 sec quarter mile car). Right now I'm only averaging 47mpg after 160 miles driven since i bought the car.
You will be in the mid/upper 50s in no time. Top 4 things I started doing early on:
