I'm all for doing something to motion the drivers behind to pass without getting nasty, be that a "please pass" sticker, etc.

I find most people that go at the speed limit enjoy having a convoy behind them, to the point that passing these idiots, they speed up all of a sudden.... hmmmmmmm.
How am I not letting them buy?

How would I enjoy a convoy?

I have the cc set to the speed limit for 95% of my commute. Some f'ing kids were riding my ***, seemingly to teach me a lesson for having the gaul to drive the speed limit.

Are you asserting that I am somehow to blame?

I can only hope that Darwinism takes care of them for me.

I understand where you are coming from -- kinda. When I was younger and driving faster cars -- everyone on the road was going to slow for me.

Now that I have matured a bit, I just want a peaceful ride home in my ZenPod. It's just that someone riding my *** kinda ruins the moment.

I guess I'll just pull over if I see you coming.

maybe a friendlier way to avoid conflict would be to put on your hazard lights and wave to signal the tailgater to pass you. Nobody gets mad at someone with hazard lights on.

I don't know in your case, but if there is a place where you can let the person behind by slowing down and motion with your hand, I'm sure they will take your signal as a nice one and probably wave back.

Well... you answered your own question. If you have a line of cars behind you because you want to follow the speed limit (and you are in the right here) and the flow of traffic is over the limit, I would say that unless you move over you probably don't care about the people behind you. If this is at all the case, that's what I mean. My comments are not directed you directly, my opinion is to people who want to go the limit, they should also be somewhat considerate of those that don't. Yes they are breaking the law but unless you are a police officer, don't try to enforce it.

No, but if you can't get rid of a tail gator then you are doing something wrong. If you want to play the "i'm doing everything legally right" card, then don't get upset when somebody tail gates you. Again, this isn't directed to you but rather to everybody.

I can only hope that Darwinism takes care of them for me.

I'm not getting any younger so I'm the opposite, I'm in a rush all the time now. If somebody wants to do a sunday drive on a monday, I'm going around them at all cost. And no, I won't cut them off or yell at them or make any rude gestures, I just go by them.

Now that I have matured a bit, I just want a peaceful ride home in my ZenPod. It's just that someone riding my *** kinda ruins the moment.

I guess I'll just pull over if I see you coming.
And you will get a major thumbs up as I go by!

If you are in the right-hand lane, going the speed-limit, and are being tailgated, it is not YOUR responsibility to ensure the tailgater can pick another lane, or to move over. It's the tailgator's responsibility. And tailgating IS illegal, BTW.

Mind you, I typically drive the speed limit or slightly faster, and often NOT in the right-hand lane. In my speed-demon days, I often drove in the left lane, leading the faster cars (75+ was typical). But even then, once in a while, I'd have someone that just HAD to go faster than me. These drivers treated me just as if I was the slow-hybrid-driving-right-lane-huggin' car. There is no "kind" way to say this - some drivers are just A-holes, and do not consider others' safety when they drive.

And you are right - I don't care much about the tailgater traffic behind me. Aiding them in making a potentially bad driving decision (to get around me) is not a good thing to do either.
My only worry is their over-aggressive behavior, who is more likely to rear-end me. Which would be their fault, also.
Will I change lanes to allow them to move on (rather than them taking the tiny effort to change lanes themselves)? Sometimes I will. It just shouldn't be expected.

With all due respect, isn't this being presumptive? It sound like the arguement that if a woman gets raped, that somehow "she was asking for it"....

There have been a few times someone has come to such an abrupt stop their car wiggled - very likely drunk. This is my fault?

I realize this was a general statement, but it tends to suggest aggressive drivers are more "legal" than a driver that actually tries to comply. This is why the roads are less friendly and less safe. Gumby was saying something like this too.

Your point? Does this solve the issue of being fustrated by a tailgator? If you are not bothered by it then you are correct. Don't think I'm defending a tailgator.

Left hand lane if for passing only, if you are not passing then you are in the way. Simple enough rule for everybody to follow, but hardly anybody does.

Yeup, some drivers are idiots.

people... i'm not defending tailgators... it's so funny how things can be twisted. the issue at hand is how to deal with a tailgator. if you do nothing and get fustrated then you have accomplished nothing. i'm offering ways to deal with tailgators. take it or leave it, i don't care.
