Great, now just make sure that you stay in the far right lane at all times!

Last night it got to a new low driving out of a shopping center. It was at an intersection that badly needed a stoplight. I went into the middle waiting for the traffic get low enough to safely get accross, then an SUV impatiently got beside me blocking my view. He honked like "shoving me under the bus" was somehow going to save him time.

Too many people (like the guy behind me) grow up to become this.

I don't care how fast you drive, there are always insane drivers. Long before I began slowing down, people would honk their horn to save a second, get right up to your rear bumper, and/or give you a friendly wave of a particular finger if you got in their way. I even had some nut pull a gun out on me (I didn't stick around to find out what he was planning to do with it, I had my at the time my four year old with me), just because I wouldn't let him cut in front of me. Man did this shake me up. I was really lucky to get away. More horsepower can come in handy, thats for sure.

To be honest, half the time the freeways are plugged up anyways, so everyone else is going just as fast as I am. I have only been honked at once since slowing, and it was some lady; she probably was in a hurry to get home, so she could spend some quality time with her husband and kids. You know something really important.

I have big issues with people that tailgate. A while back i was driving on a one lane each way road and had some young idiot on my bumper and i was going almost 10 over the limit. He didn't back off either.......until i did hit the brakes and then he did this weave back and forth number as to try and scare me! LOL nice try but i'm battle hardened and tested. Then he just crossed both double yellow lines and passed me. What a complete moron. I just don't get driving like that!!

I had a motorcyclist that was tailgating me. It yelled "Go!" when the light turned green and then began to swerve back and forth as we drove along. By that time, I had enough of his crap and pulled over to the side to let him pass. People have no respect anymore.

Good read. Thanks for bringing this back Jess. This morning the pickup in front of me was tailgating a sedan. It was so close, that I couldn't see the sedan unless the road curved. I kept my distance, because tailgating can easily lead to fender benders and chain-reactions.

One of the good trick is washing a lot your windshield. It works for 80% of the tailgaters. My personnal trick is the windshield clean-up and the cruise control. With cruise control, there is no emotion involved. So the strupid animal can be at 1 inch or 1 mile, it wont change anything. Moreover, the risk of accident is lower. The moron wont have to anticipate your reaction because you just dont have any reaction.

Frankly, here there is almost no tailgaters. I strive myself to believe that the environmental friendly behaviour is more understood here.

Tailgating is the responsibility of two people. The person doing it and the person provoking it. There is no reason to drive slower than the posted speed limit ever, unless you are towing a trailer and have a sign saying "Oversize Load - Caution".

It is true we don't want to go too far past the posted limits, but a COP can pull you over for obstruction of traffic or reckless driving or attempt to cause an accident.

If you are driving 55 in a 55 zone go to the slow lane. If you are going 35 in a 55 zone, leave the highway and do not return.

Remember if an accident does occur, other people may pull over and explain to the cops that you caused the accident by speeding up and slowing down....

(Luckily I don't take the highway in the morning to work!!)

15 mile commute and it is all nice and slow with plastered schools zones everywhere!!!

That is a great video

I have always thought about doing that, but not taping it

Of course, I've heard the stories of violators using blow-up dolls, mannequins, etc., as well as the pregnant ladies who claim the fetus as the passenger!

To be fair, I have also seen vehicles I was sure were illegal, but when they passed I saw a kid in the back. It does happen!
I want to see all the states install heat sensitive imaging cameras on over passes and they can see how many people are truly in the car, and have another camera get the plate

Some people would interpret that as just a good reason to get the optional heated seats. ;-)
