A navagational system provides up to the second speed comformation. I have a portable Garmin that I can try one day to see if mine is close anyways. If you have one available they are much better than the mile marker system.

I have tried this experiment with my gps, and my HCHII is dead on. At 60 mph on the speedometer, my gps said 60, so the error couldn't be more than 1 mph.
My other car is off by 3 mph at 60, so I was a little surprised by how accurate it is.
