Someone in Longmont Colorado, about 30-40 miles north of Denver is fined for using an illegal light changing device he bought on Ebay. Firefighters are allowed to use lane changing devices in emergencies.

I can see the story now, Ghost Car Vandalizes Fire Truck About how a car pulled up silently, no engine noise, the occupant got out, and took the light changing device from the fire truck, retreated to his vehicle, and like a whisper was gone.
Personally it wouldn't be of much use to me. The lights here are all timed for 47 MPH, you go 47, you hit all the lights green. Of course, I seem to be the only person in the state who has figured that out, as I'm constantly passed by vehicles going 55, who I then catch up to at the next light and sometimes pass.
