Still happy at 15K miles! I just did a 1,500-mile road trip in a two-day period, and was very happy with the current software. Overall fuel economy ranged from 48-53 MPG for every tankful (calculated manually). I used cruise control nearly the whole time, always set to 70+ MPH. There were extended portions of mountainous driving, with no sense of power deficiency. I used the A/C the whole time. I had one other passenger plus a lot of luggage. Temperatures were 45-75 degrees. Tire pressures at 40 PSI. It was easy to see that I could have gotten an extra 5+ MPG by being slightly more moderate and mindful in my driving habits.

Those are excellent #'s at those speeds.I can manage those figures and better at 55 - 60 mph. 55 mph gives me the best FE , normally 56 and as high as 62 mpg US when driving the flat lands.

Question Re: Got the latest June '10 software update!

I have 2008 CH with the software update and I've been averaging about 45mpg. That's driving fairly conservatively. I do run at stock tire pressure however. I've noticed a lot of folks in the forums run at 40 psi. I tried 36 PSI in an accord I had for a while to try to improve gas mileage and the tires wore very strangely and quicker than normal. Do those of you who run at high tire pressures experience early / strange wear patterns on your tires? Any decrease in handling or wet weather? Also did it increase mpg that much?

Harold, we're hopelessly off-topic, but anyway:

Too late: we've put a deposit on an on-the-lot 2010 Prius, Touring model (I believe rough equiv. to V in the States). Has the 17" wheels, LED low beams, fog lights and so on.

Hi Mendel:
Your going to love that G3. I prefer the G2 myself, but that is me. Plus I did not want to get rid of my HCH2, so could not justify a new G3 as well.
When do you get the new car and did you trade your HCH2 in on it?
Cheers:
H

Next Saturday. We have test driven already, it is very nice. Silver.

Due to accident with the HCHII they were very stingy in trade, not that dealers ever give good deals... At any rate, just a cash deal, and one of our son's plans to buy it off us, keeps it in the family

My 06 Prius is Silver as well. Actually the color is growing on me. I normally purchase white if I have a choice. I could not turn this thing down with only 19,500 kil. on it with all options other than nav. . Good price as well. Enjoy your new car. H
