Default fuel indicator bars when full

Has anyone counted the number of fuel bars the HCHII has when the tank is full? I was kinda curious how many gallons each pip represented. Thanks

Yes, I've always wished the HCH gave you the exact number of gallons remaining in the vehicle and estimated remaining distance that you could drive on a display somewhere, rather than a couple of electronic bars that fluctuate a bit near empty.

My father has that numerical gas tank level feature on his 2001 Mercedes E Class, and he uses it all the time. He's never ran out of gas, but he usually fills up with about 1.0 gallon remaining.

well, since its a 12 gallon tank, each bar I am guessing represents half a gallon. Hopefully its accurate. I usually fuel up between 430 and 450 and I only fit a max of 9.5 gallons on the first click.

Is it the same number of pips on the mpg side as well?

I'd be interested in the error rate on his measurement, given the hysteresis and error evident on the bar display the same would have to be true for any numerical readout as well.

The gauge isn't an accurate graphic image of the ENTIRE range of the tank. With a full tank, I always drive over 100 miles before the first bar goes away. Likewise, when the last bar blanks out, you could still drive 50 miles. Therefore, the 21 bars represent perhaps just 11 gallons.
