Going to change plugs this week..he did mention some of the speciality plugs splitfire..etc..run much hotter and I should not use.
That actually goes back to my original post. My HCH II has 105K miles on it now and I'm going to change the plugs with one of those listed (above, from local Honda parts dept.).

NGK Iridium looks like the way to go I guess. Thanks.

Replaced the plugs and the electrodes on the old plugs were eroded to about 0.052 of a gap.

A spark plug in the cars up to 1990 you could pick and choose, It now is like buying new fuel injectors, you need to do the homework, I bought my '09 because so many of my customers that have Hybrids have asked me to spec a 'better' plug. I have found that the stock plug works just as well as any Iradium, platinum or super duper plug on the market. Marginal at best, the Iradium seems to have a cooler fire, yet sets off a complete burn. I know this as I use a VDO combustion chamber gauge on them, a cooler fire in most cases would call out poor burn, not here. I have seen about a 5% increase in MPG on the 3 customers running them. BUT if you do change and your MPG goes south. keep the old ones and replace them.. I find the 8 plug/4 cylinders an item I am still learning..

FWIW, I had a look at ours at around 60,000 km's. After a dip/wipe with carb cleaner they looked pristine, as new. The kicker: the front row were spec'd. NGK plug, the rear row the spec'd ND. The car doesn't seem to mind.
